Collins 1936 Street Directory - Melbourne

Here's the image set of the 1936 Collins Melbourne Street Directory. All these images are pretty big, and many feature my left thumb as the directory itself was pretty small, and I was trying to be very careful not to trash the book.

These images are all quite large - 3456 x 2036 pixels - taken with an 8MP Canon EOS 350D at a distance of about 20cms.

Having done a little cross checking on the accuracy of the maps compared to today, they are surprisingly good. There are some obvious changes (new freeways and the like), and occasionally the street names have changed, or the streets no longer exist, but for the most part they are very usable. The inner city images (eg: Fitzroy, Brunswick, Northcote etc.) are fine, but as you get further out they get a bit patchy understandably.
